I finally stopped using a handsaw for pruning cuts over 3 inches
Used to swear by my old Silky saw for everything. Big limbs, small limbs, didn't matter. Then I took a workshop in Portland 2 years ago and the instructor watched me cut a 5 inch limb. Said I was putting way too much strain on my wrist and shoulder. He handed me a battery-powered reciprocating saw with a pruning blade and it cut through in maybe 10 seconds vs 2 minutes. Now I only use the handsaw for stuff under 3 inches. Does anyone else still go old school on big cuts or have you switched to power tools too?

Honestly, I feel you on that. I was the same way with my folding saw for years, thought power tools were overkill until I helped a buddy clear a downed oak last spring. Tbh, using a handsaw on anything over 3 inches just feels like punishment now, especially when your shoulder starts barking at you the next day. Ngl, I still pull out the old Silky for those smaller cuts because it's quieter and I don't have to mess with batteries, but for anything bigger I'm all in on the recip saw with a good blade. You're not alone in making that switch, man.
