Pro tip: wrapping the pull rope around my boot got my saw unstuck after 20 minutes of yanking
That limb pinched my bar at about 12 feet up on a red oak in Akron and no amount of prying with the felling wedge worked, but stepping on the rope loop and pulling slow with my legs popped it free in one go, so what other cheap tricks am I missing for a stuck bar?
My go-to dumb trick is just staring at it and questioning every life choice that led me to buy a saw in the first place. Last time I got pinched I spent ten minutes kicking the tree like it owed me money, which did nothing except make my foot hurt. What actually worked was cutting a short stick and jamming it in the kerf behind the bar to spread the wood open, then the saw slid right out. A plastic felling wedge tapped in behind the bar does the same thing if you have one handy. Rope around the boot thing is smart though, never thought to use my legs instead of my arms.
