Stop painting pruning cuts, it's slowing your trees down
I used to slather wound dressing on every cut until a guy at the ISA chapter meetup in Portland showed me the research, sealed cuts actually trap moisture and rot instead of keeping it out. Left the cuts bare on a row of maples last spring and they callused over way cleaner than the ones I painted. Anybody else still getting pushback from old school clients who think bare wood looks unfinished?
