The week I got chased by hornets for 3 straight days

Last Tuesday I was pruning a big oak in a backyard near Cincinnati and didn't notice a ground nest hidden in the roots. Swung my chainsaw too close and next thing I know I'm running across the lawn with like 20 hornets on my shirt. Wednesday I go to another job, same town, and there's a yellow jacket nest in the maple I'm climbing. Thursday I'm done, I'm just staring at trees from the truck before I even get out. Has anyone else had a run of bad luck like that where it feels like the bugs are personally out to get you?

Pretty sure hornets and yellow jackets are actually two different things, not the same bug with a different name. But yeah, that's a rough week either way.

charles442, you're right they're different, but I had a similar mess last summer and what finally worked was taking a shop vac to the nest hole at night. I waited until it was dark and quiet, then taped the hose to the entrance and let it run for a good hour. Killed the whole colony without getting stung once. Had to do it twice over a few days because some stragglers showed up, but it cleared things out. Just make sure you seal the hole with caulk or foam afterward or they'll find their way back in.
