Two-man saw vs chainsaw for a big removal, I picked wrong
Last month in Portland I had a big dead oak, maybe 30 inches across, and I went back and forth on using a crosscut saw to keep the homeowner happy versus firing up the chainsaw. I chose the hand saw to save the lawn, took me almost 4 hours and my arms still ache, the bark was rotten and kept binding the blade. Has anyone else talked themselves into the slower tool and regretted it?

Remember that buddy who borrowed my truck and tried to crosscut a locust stump by hand? He had the same idea, figured the quiet would be nice for the neighbors, and ended up chewing through half a bottle of Advil before calling me to bring the saw. There's a reason loggers invented gas engines, sometimes the smart move is just getting the job done fast and safe, even if it costs you a little lawn.
