Why does nobody talk about the difference between a 3-strand and a 12-strand climbing rope?
Switched to a 12-strand for big removals last season and the extra flex saved my shoulders after a 6-hour oak takedown. Anyone else have a strong rope preference for different jobs?

Reminds me how the right tool changes everything.

Yeah, ward.jamie's buddy is right about the 12-strand handling better over limbs. I keep a short hank of 3-strand for rigging small stuff, but for any long pull or big wood, the 12-strand is way less work.

Man, my buddy swore by his old 3-strand for years. Then he did a massive pine removal on a super steep yard. He switched to a 12-strand halfway through. Said the difference was crazy. The 12-strand just handled way easier over the limbs, less wrestling with the rope. He won't go back for big wood now.
