Why does nobody talk about the hand winch for leaning trees

I figured a $70 hand winch from the farm supply in Athens would just slip and snap, but it pulled a 14 inch leaning red oak back upright over 3 afternoons without a single slip, so what's your go-to when a tree leans over a fence line?
