A weird detail at the Cahokia Mounds visitor center got me thinking
I was there last month and the exhibit said the 'woodhenge' posts were definitely for solstice tracking, but I noticed the spacing looked off for that, like maybe it was for something else. The guide just repeated the official line when I asked, which felt a bit too neat. Does anyone have a different take on what those post holes might have been for?

Maybe they were just giant game boards for some lost sport.

Haha, @charles442, that would explain why I always lose at giant checkers.

Giant checkers sounds like a nightmare. Poor depth perception would totally mess you up. Good call, @charles442, maybe it was for giants with really good eyesight. Or just a very clumsy old game nobody talks about anymore.
