Comparing field notes from two digs in Ohio changed how I record everything
Last summer I worked a site near Marietta and kept sparse notes, just measurements and a few sketches. Then I reviewed a colleague's log from a 1990s excavation down the same river valley, and she had written every layer's smell, color, even the weather each morning. That extra context helped me spot a soil change I'd have missed entirely. Anyone else found that adding sensory details to field notes makes reinterpreting old digs way easier?
