Flew a drone over a Roman villa site, it dropped right into the trench

I was mapping a dig near Bath last summer and my cheap drone lost signal mid-flight, so it plummeted straight into the exact trench we'd been cleaning for 3 days, and after we fished it out with a trowel and string, the site supervisor just said 'well, that's one way to do a ground survey' before handing me a brush and making me re-sift the whole 2-meter square by hand, has anyone else had their tech wreck a pristine context?

Tape a bright orange flag to the drone next time. Cheap insurance for the budget you're clearly working with. That supervisor has definitely seen worse, trust me.
