Just catalogued my 500th pottery shard from the dig site near Tucson!
It took me three months to sort and log them all, but hitting that number made me realize we've uncovered a much larger settlement than we first thought.

Honestly used to think cataloging was just busy work, like glorified box checking. Then I helped a friend sort some glass from a 19th century dump site. Seeing the patterns in the glass colors and thicknesses, it clicked. That pile of broken stuff started telling a story about who lived there and what they bought. Now I get why hitting 500 pieces feels like a real discovery, not just a number.

Wait, you sorted 500 pieces by yourself? That's a crazy amount of pottery for one person to go through.

That's a huge find, and I totally get that feeling from my own cataloging work!
