Small creek bed find changed how I see early settlements

I was helping with a survey near an old farm, and we looked at a creek bed. Others wanted to find big stuff, but I got excited about a plain stone scraper we found. Doesn't it seem like we miss a lot by only caring about the huge finds?

Seriously, fish bones tell you more than a dagger?

Seriously! I read this paper about how most of what we know comes from broken pottery bits and flint chips, not treasure. They said a single fire pit full of fish bones tells you more about a normal day than some fancy ceremonial dagger ever will.

Totally! My future archaeologist is gonna be so disappointed by my trash can. Just a bunch of boring coffee grounds and takeout boxes, zero ceremonial daggers to be found.
