Spent 5 hours in the lab reconstructing a Roman oil lamp sherd and my stabilizing glue failed overnight and the pieces slid apart
I used the wrong ratio of B-72 to acetone on a 2nd century AD lamp fragment from a dig near Cirencester and now I have to soak the whole thing in solvent and start over, has anyone else ruined a reconstruction with bad adhesive or is it just me?
Man, this is just like when I mix concrete too wet and the whole step cracks a week later, ratios are everything and nobody warns you until it fails. Same deal with baking or even mixing paint, you get cocky and skip the measuring and the thing falls apart on you. Soak that sherd and try again, it happens to everyone who works with their hands.
