Dropped $85 on a big jug of deck cleaner that did nothing my hose and a brush couldn't do

Bought it at the hardware store in Beaverton after the guy behind the counter swore it would strip 10 years of gray off my cedar in one afternoon, and all it did was turn the wood orange in patches and leave me scrubbing twice as long, so has anyone else had a "miracle" cleaner just make the job worse?
