Dryer sheet mistake I only caught after 3 loads of stiff towels

I always crammed like 4 dryer sheets in with a big load thinking more = softer. Turns out that coats the lint filter with waxy buildup, so the dryer works way harder and takes longer. Caught it when my towels came out feeling like cardboard AND the dryer cycle ran 90 minutes. Cleaned the filter with hot water and dish soap, now just 1 sheet max and everything comes out fine. Anyone else been doing this for ages without realizing?

Damn, ever think the waxy buildup is also trapping bacteria and making your dryer a mold farm?
