Had a terrible day at the hardware store last Tuesday

I went to grab some 2x4s for a simple shelf project and the guy measuring cuts was gone for 20 minutes, then they didn't have the right screws in stock. Has anyone else had a simple errand turn into a whole afternoon just because one thing went wrong?

Reminds me of when I went to grab a flat of paint and the tinting machine was down, ended up spending the whole morning driving between two different stores just to get a gallon of eggshell white...

Did you run into any trouble framing with the smaller actual size or did it work out fine?
