You said it turned from the worst day into the best one, but I gotta ask - was it really that bad? Like, did you actually hose down a burning dumpster with the pumper truck only to realize you forgot to disengage the parking brake, or was it more like you spilled coffee on your uniform and then found a $20 bill? Seems like a lot of people call a slow shift "the worst" and then one free pizza in the break room makes it "the best." What specific thing actually flipped it for you?

Similar situation happened to me a few years back. Whole shift went sideways with equipment issues and grumpy patients, then a quick stop for gas on the way home turned into me winning a free car wash. Sometimes the day just flips on you when you least expect it.
