I used to wash my car every Sunday, now I just let the rain handle it
For like two years straight, I'd be out there with a bucket and hose in my driveway every single weekend, no joke. Then last spring, I got a new job with a longer drive and I just stopped having the energy for it. My black Honda Civic in Charlotte looks dusty 90% of the time now, and I only really scrub it down before visiting family. Anyone else just give up on a chore they used to be super strict about?

Is the rain even doing a good job though? My car just ends up with weird water spots and the bird poop turns into a permanent crusty mural. I tried to convince myself the dirt was a protective coating, but then I saw my reflection in a store window and my gray car looked like a sad, dusty ghost. Now I just hope a really strong storm counts as a power wash.

Sad dusty ghost" is the perfect way to put it, @hunt.nora, you changed my mind.

My 2012 Civic looked like a sad ghost too until I started parking under the big oak on Maple. That tree filters the hard water and the light rain just sort of mists the dust off. The bird stuff still needs a wipe, but the dirt layer comes off in these perfect clean streaks. It's like a free, slow-motion car wash. A solid downpour just makes it worse, but a couple days of that soft drizzle actually works.
