My 12 year old nephew pointed out I check my phone every time I'm waiting for anything

We were sitting at a red light last Saturday and he just flat out said 'you always look at your phone when you're not doing anything.' Kid was right. I've been trying to put it in the glovebox when I drive now. Anyone else had a kid call them out and change a small habit?

Dont see the problem honestly keeps me from getting bored every second of every day.

@williamb29 I gotta push back on that one a little. Being bored every second of the day sounds awful to me, not something to fix by staring at a screen. Your mind actually needs those quiet moments to rest and process stuff, you know? All that constant input just wears you down over time. I get that boredom feels uncomfortable, but thats kind of the point. It pushes you to actually do something real instead of just killing time.

Oh man that's a good one! Something nobody's talking about is how this affects your memory of everyday life. I noticed when I stopped grabbing my phone during little gaps, I actually remember more of my day now. Like before I'd be at a stoplight and boom, scroll for 45 seconds, and that whole drive just disappears. Now I look around and notice things, even boring stuff like the clouds or what color car is in front of me. Later I can actually recall the little moments instead of it all being a blur of screen time. Your nephew kind of gave you a gift there, he helped you start actually living in those small pockets of time instead of just killing them.
