My garbage disposal just quit mid-soup cleanup

Happened last night after dinner. Was rinsing out the pot from some potato leek soup. Heard a loud hum then nothing. Flipped the switch a few times, no luck. Checked the reset button under the sink too. Anyone know a good fix before I call a plumber?

Ugh, that loud hum and then nothing is the worst sound.

Actually, that hum means it's probably just jammed. You should try turning it with an allen wrench from the bottom before you panic. It's a super common fix that takes two minutes.

Did you already try the allen wrench trick? I had that same humming issue last month and almost called a repair guy... but my neighbor told me to check the bottom. Sure enough, it was just stuck. A quick turn with the wrench and it started right up. Saved me a ton of money and stress.
