Paper planner beat my phone calendar after 2 weeks of testing

I got tired of my phone buzzing with reminders I kept ignoring, so I picked up a basic weekly planner from the drugstore for $8. Turns out writing things down by hand actually makes me remember them, like the dentist appointment I keep missing. My phone calendar had 25 events scattered across two apps, but the paper one sits open on my kitchen counter and I can't avoid it. Does anyone else find that physical stuff just sticks in your head better, or is this just a me thing?

Read somewhere that scientists found handwriting lights up different parts of the brain than typing. Something about the physical motion making the info stick better. My own test was a cheap wall calendar in the kitchen and it worked the same way for me. Just seeing it every morning while making coffee beats any notification I swipe away.

@elliot_taylor that actually makes sense. Thought notes apps were better, but now rethinking it.
