Pro tip: I chose the $5 bag of play sand over the fancy paver base for my patio project
I was fixing a small corner of my patio in Springfield and had to pick between the expensive branded paver base or a basic bag of sand from the hardware store. I went with the sand, and after leveling it and putting the bricks back, you can't even tell the difference (it's been solid for 3 months now). Has anyone else used regular sand for a small repair like this, or did I just get lucky?

Oh, "being cheap and getting away with it" is my favorite kind of DIY. I used leftover gravel from my fish tank for a stepping stone once. It's still there, holding up my questionable life choices. Sometimes the fancy bag is just paying for the picture on the front.
