Ran across this stat that 70% of home fires start in the kitchen and it hit me hard

After my neighbor's grease fire last Tuesday I looked up the data on the NFPA site and found out most of those fires happen when people just leave the stove unattended for a few minutes has anyone else gotten paranoid about that.

Burnt my eggs, my toast, and my ego all in one morning.

Used to think breakfast was foolproof, the one meal you couldn't screw up no matter how tired you were. Then I tried making eggs one morning with barely any sleep and ended up with charcoal and a smoke filled kitchen. Totally changed my view on how simple cooking can really go wrong fast. Your burnt ego part hits hard because that's the real pain, not the ruined food. Now I just accept that some mornings are meant for cereal.

Dropped a frozen pizza in the sink last night trying to rush through dinner and ended up tripping over the cat on the way to grab paper towels. Now I'm wondering if the smoke alarm is secretly judging me every time I cook.
