Rant: the neighbor who 'helped' me dig fence posts last spring

Back in April I was setting posts for a new garden fence, about 12 holes total. This guy from two doors down walks over with his shovel and says, "You're doing it wrong, you gotta soak the ground first." He dumped two buckets of water into the first hole and waited 20 minutes. When I tried to dig anyway, the dirt just turned to mud and collapsed on my auger. I spent an extra hour cleaning that mess and re-digging. He went home after one hole and I haven't borrowed a tool from him since. Has anyone else had a nosy neighbor make a simple job twice as long?

Man that's brutal, nothing worse than someone making a mess then bailing on you.
