That old lady at the park who showed me how to deadhead petunias
I was at Evergreen Park last Saturday trimming my flower beds and this woman maybe 80 years old walks up and says 'you're cutting too much off, honey, just pinch the stem right above the leaf.' She showed me exactly where and now my petunias look twice as full after a week. Has anyone else had a stranger give you a tip that actually worked better than anything you read online?

Jeez, I was exactly like that too. Always watched YouTube tutorials and thought I had it figured out. Then this old guy at the hardware store told me to stop over-pruning my roses. Just a snip here and there, not hacking half the plant off. I did what he said and my roses actually bloomed again for the first time in two years. Made me realize online experts don't always know what works in real dirt. Sometimes old people just have the hands-on experience you can't get from a screen.
