Unpopular opinion: my neighbor's lawn service ruined the whole block's soil in just 3 months
Last spring, the new guy two doors down hired a crew that dumps heavy chemical fertilizer every 2 weeks. By August, our shared strip of grass along the sidewalk turned yellow and patchy, and my veggie bed near the fence stopped producing. Has anyone else had a neighbor's lawn care choices mess up their own yard?

Did you actually test the soil yet or are you just going off what things look like? Because if the pH is way off from those chemicals there's not much you can do except tell the guy to ease up on the schedule.

Two hundred bucks a month for lawn care and you're telling me some runoff from neighbor's weed killer is gonna nuke a mature oak tree? I've seen oaks growing out of old railroad ties soaked in creosote for decades. Trees are tougher than we give them credit for. Half the time people see yellow leaves and panic when it's just the tree doing its normal cycle or the lawn guy overwatering. Maybe the neighbor dumped something way too strong, but the lawn service is probably the scapegoat here.

Had a buddy whose neighbor used those weed-and-feed bags every month, and his oak tree dropped all its leaves by July. The runoff can throw the pH way off in surrounding soil pretty fast, especially with clay dirt like we have here. Might be worth getting a cheap soil test kit to see what's actually happening before you blame the whole thing on the lawn service.
