Watch out for the used car trick at those weekend lots
Last month I went to one of those pop-up car lots off Highway 99 in Fresno, and they had a 2015 sedan priced way below book value. The guy there kept pushing me to sign before my mechanic could look it over, saying someone else was coming at 4pm. I walked away and found out later from a buddy that the lot has a pattern of selling cars with rebuilt titles they never mention. Has anyone else run into this at those temporary lots, or is there a way to check a VIN history without paying $40?

Honestly, sounds like you dodged a bullet, but tons of lots do this and it's not exactly a secret.
