Am I the only one who used to just Google a question and click the first link?

For years, I would type something like 'how to fix a leaky faucet' and just trust whatever the top result said. Then last winter, my sink in my apartment in Tacoma flooded because I followed a bad guide. Now I always check at least three different sites, including a forum like this one, and look for the same answer twice before I try anything. Has anyone else found a better way to make sure you're getting good info online?

My entire life is a cautionary tale from page one.

Damn, that hits hard. Really felt that in my bones today.

Honestly, that three site rule is smart, but I'd add checking the date. I found a 2012 guide for my old Honda Civic that said to use a part they stopped making in 2015. Took me an hour to figure out why the auto store looked at me like I was crazy. Now I always scroll past the first few generic results to find a recent forum thread or a news article from the last year or two.
