Finally caved and tried a meal prep Sunday after years of mocking it
I used to think meal prep was for people who had zero spontaneity in their lives. But last Tuesday I spent $12 on takeout for lunch because I had nothing in the fridge, and that was the third time in a week. My coworker Jessica brought in her prepped containers on Monday and had a full quinoa bowl ready in two minutes. That one moment made me realize I was just wasting money and time. Has anyone else had a sudden switch like that on something you thought was dumb?

Wait, is it weird that I actually look forward to my Sunday meal prep now? Because I swore up and down I'd never be that person, and now I get grumpy if I don't have my little containers ready. The first time I tried it, I burned rice so bad it stuck to the pot and I had to throw the whole thing away. But after that disaster, I figured out you just need a few basic recipes and it actually saves you from spending $8 on a sad sandwich at lunch. It's like I became the person I used to mock, but hey, at least my wallet is happier.

Three weeks into meal prep and I realized I was eyeing my coworkers' sad takeout lunches with genuine pity. That was the moment I knew I had fully crossed over. The rice thing is real though, I went through three different rice cookers before I found one that didn't betray me on the regular. Now I've got a spreadsheet with fifteen rotating recipes and I get annoyed if I have to skip a Sunday because of plans. It's basically a hobby at this point, just one that saves me about forty bucks a week and makes me feel weirdly superior about my Tuesday lunch options.
