I was asking my questions in the wrong place for a year before someone on Reddit pointed it out.
I kept posting my general 'how do I fix this' questions in specific hobby subreddits, and a user finally told me, 'This is an ask anything forum, you know,' which made me realize I'd been missing the whole point of this community.

I was on a gaming forum for like eight months before I realized they had a tech support section. Felt so dumb lol. It's easy to get stuck in one corner of a site and miss the obvious spots for your questions. That Reddit user did you a solid by pointing it out. A lot of people would have just ignored you or gotten annoyed.
