Neighbor's open garage while they're away: step in or stay out?
My neighbors are on vacation and I saw their garage door wide open with pricey tools inside. On one hand, I feel I should close it to stop thieves (which seems like the good neighbor thing to do). But on the other hand, going onto their property without asking feels wrong and might be against the law. What would you do in this spot?

Doesn't it feel like we're all getting too worried about legal stuff instead of just helping out? I see this all the time where people freeze up over simple neighborly acts (like closing a garage door) because they're scared of getting in trouble. I'd probably just close it and leave a note, but that's just me.

Just close it and text them later.

Honestly I get where you're coming from, but I see it the other way. That garage door being open is a real safety risk for the whole family living there. I'd close it right away because waiting for a text feels like leaving them open to trouble. My first thought is protecting their home, not the small chance of a weird legal thing. Helping out quickly just seems like the decent thing to do.
