Pro tip: I thought those $12 magnetic phone mounts from the gas station were junk, 8 months later it's still holding
Saw one of those cheap magnetic phone mounts on a rack at a Speedway outside Columbus last July and figured it was a $12 scam, the kind of thing that falls off the second you hit a pothole. I grabbed it anyway because my old clip mount kept dropping my phone onto the passenger floor every time I turned left. Stuck it on my vent, and honestly it has not budged once through 8 months of daily driving, two road trips to Cleveland, and one very bumpy gravel road. My brother swore these things mess up your phone's compass but mine still works fine, so now I don't know what to believe. The magnet is strong enough that I have to two hand the phone off it, which is annoying but also kind of the point. What's a cheap thing you wrote off as garbage that ended up lasting way longer than you expected?
