Random lady at the grocery store told me to wash my berries in vinegar, I finally tried it
Two months ago a stranger spotted me loading up on strawberries at the local Safeway and insisted this trick prevents mold. I was skeptical but tried it last week after losing a third of my batch to fuzz. Did this actually work for anyone else or did I just get lucky with fresh fruit?

Oh man, I feel your pain on the moldy berry struggle.

Nah, @sanchez.pat, moldy berries just means they're real. No preservatives. That's what you want. If your berries last a week without a speck of fuzz, that's chemicals. That's the stuff that builds up in your system. I'll take a little penicillin over that any day. Just rinse em off good and eat around the bad spots.

I used to be on team "a little mold never hurt nobody" like sullivan.spencer, honestly. But then I tried the vinegar wash on a bad batch of raspberries and they lasted almost two weeks in the fridge, no fuzz at all. It freaked me out at first but now I'm pretty sure that random lady was onto something, fresh berries just rot fast without it.
