Realized after 8 months of daily carry I was using the wrong pocket for my knife

Was at a cookout by the grill in Akron and the guy next to me pulled out his knife from his front left pocket in one smooth motion and it hit me I've been fumbling with my right pocket like an idiot the whole time, anybody else ever have that awkward moment where you watch someone do something and immediately see your own bad habit?

Saw that happen with a guy using his grill tongs backwards once, makes you wonder what else we've been doing wrong that nobody's told us about.

Flipped my knife to the left pocket right after reading this and it actually makes way more sense with how i naturally reach for it. Always thought right pocket was the "correct" way since im right handed but quick draw matters more than i realized. Took me like 18 months to have this same epiphany lol.

Honestly, I was the same way for years. Always thought keeping my knife in my right pocket was the obvious move because I'm right handed too. But after reading this thread it finally clicked how much slower my draw was when I had to reach across my body or fumble with my keys first. Switched it to my left pocket yesterday and it already feels way more natural for opening boxes and stuff. Tbh, I think most of us just copy what we see in videos or what feels comfortable without really testing it. It's wild how one little change can make such a big difference.
