Spent 4 hours chasing a coolant leak that was just a loose clamp
I swore up and down it had to be a cracked hose or a bad water pump. Took the whole front end of my truck apart on a Sunday morning, tested everything with a pressure kit, even borrowed a friend's smoke machine. After 4 hours of frustration, I found the lower radiator hose clamp was barely finger tight from a previous repair. Nobody talks about how a simple 30 second fix can eat up your whole weekend. Has anyone else gone way overboard on a simple problem?

Dude I once spent 6 hours pulling apart my whole brake system because my pedal felt spongy. Replaced pads, rotors, bled the lines twice, even swapped the master cylinder. Turned out the vacuum line to the booster had a tiny crack I couldn't see. I literally cried laughing when I found it because I had a roll of electrical tape in my glove box the whole time. My neighbor saw me covered in brake fluid and just handed me a beer without saying a word. Sometimes the simplest stuff makes you feel like the biggest idiot ever lol.

Had a buddy @vera_palmer who spent a whole weekend chasing a rough idle in his old Chevy. Swapped plugs, wires, cleaned the throttle body, even replaced the IAC valve. Turns out it was just a loose vacuum cap on the intake manifold that had popped off. He drove around for three days with a shop rag stuffed in the hose because his wife was about to lose it. The worst part was he found the cap sitting in the passenger floorboard under a coffee cup. Said he sat in the driveway for ten minutes just staring at it before he could even laugh about it.
