Honestly, that "useless" comment cut deep but he was right about something bigger. It's wild how experts in one field can spot shortcuts we completely miss because we're too stuck in our own way of thinking. Every time I get defensive about my methods now I try to pause and wonder what someone from a totally different world might show me in two minutes.

That "stuck in our own way of thinking" part hits home. I've noticed the same pattern watching people argue over the best way to load a dishwasher or pack a car trunk, when half the time the real shortcut is just not overthinking it.
