Walked into my local coffee shop after 3 months away and the whole vibe had shifted

The old guy who used to run the place sold it to a younger couple who swapped out the mismatched thrift chairs for all matching wooden ones. It felt cleaner but lost that lived-in feeling. Has anyone else seen a favorite spot change hands and lose its soul?

Man, I feel this in my bones. Walked into my favorite diner last week and they had replaced the sticky vinyl booths with sleek dark ones. Felt like I was sitting in a dentist's waiting room, not a place where I've cried into my pancakes before.

Oh man, did you try sitting in a different spot? I had the SAME thing happen at my go-to breakfast spot, but I found this one corner booth that still had the old squeaky vinyl. I'm pretty sure nobody sits there because the leg is wobbly, but I claimed it as MY spot and told the waitress why. She laughed but now she holds it for me on weekends. Maybe ask your server if they've got any leftover booths in the back? Sometimes they keep one around for storage and you can BEG them to let you sit there.
