Warning: I wasted $250 on a meal delivery kit subscription

I signed up for a 3-meal meal kit service thinking I'd save time and eat healthier. After 4 weeks, I realized I was spending $250 a month on pre-portioned ingredients I could buy for half that at Aldi. The produce was often wilted by day 3, and I ended up throwing out about $60 worth of stuff. What finally convinced me to cancel was when a $12 salad kit had a tiny bag of green leaves that served one person. Has anyone else fallen for these services and figured out a cheaper way to meal plan?

Tbh that $12 salad kit thing is wild, I had the same issue where their "serves 2" portions barely covered one person. The whole trick with meal planning is just picking 3-4 recipes, writing down the ingredients, and hitting Aldi or Lidl once a week. You'll end up spending like $50-60 and have leftovers for lunch too.

Wonder how much money these companies make off people too busy to realize they're just paying someone to go to the grocery store for them?

Lmao I can't believe that $12 salad kit, it's like they handed you a single leaf and called it a day. I swear these services are designed by someone who's never actually cooked a meal in their life. Sounds like you've figured out the real hack though, just doing it yourself with a quick list. Plus you avoid the guilt of tossing out overpriced wilted spinach that looks like it's been through a war.
