Before and after: My Milky Way shots from June vs last week in Colorado
I went back to the same spot near Great Sand Dunes last week and the difference from June was crazy. Back then I was using a cheap intervalometer that kept skipping frames, so my stacked images were full of gaps. I finally got a proper wired remote and a better tracking mount, and the detail in the dust lanes is way sharper now. Has anyone else noticed a big jump in quality after swapping out just one piece of gear?

I always thought a cable release was overkill but man, that really proves me wrong.

Is it really that big of a game changer? Might have to grab one.

Just make sure you've got steady hands and maybe don't drink coffee before using it. Otherwise you'll look like you're making a documentary about earthquakes.
