Had to choose between a reflector and a dob for my first real telescope

After months of saving up I finally had about 300 bucks to spend. I was stuck between a 6 inch reflector on an EQ mount and a 8 inch dob. Everyone online said the dob was easier for beginners but I wanted to try tracking. Ended up going with the dob. First night out I found the Orion Nebula in like 5 minutes and it was way clearer than I expected. No complicated setup just point and look. Has anyone else switched from one type to the other and regretted it?

Kinda feels like you're overthinking a hobby purchase. You found Orion Nebula in 5 minutes, sounds like you made the right call.

It's just a telescope, not a mortgage.

Right?! @morgan898 nailed it - the Orion Nebula in five minutes is proof enough that this wasn't just some random impulse buy. I feel like people forget telescopes are personal, you know? What works for one person might be overkill for another. It's not about the price tag, it's about whether you actually use the thing and get excited about it. And clearly you're already doing that, so mission accomplished (even if it took a little longer than expected).
