I spent a whole night fighting with my camera's autofocus on Jupiter

I was trying to get a clear shot of Jupiter and its moons from my backyard in Tucson, but the autofocus on my DSLR kept hunting and never locked on. I switched to manual focus and spent over 4 hours using a bahtinov mask and live view, which was way harder than any tutorial made it seem. Has anyone else given up on autofocus for planetary imaging and just gone fully manual?

Autofocus is useless for planets, man. You made the right call going manual.

Why does everything with a chip in it just give up?
