I thought those cheap phone adapters for telescope eyepieces were a total gimmick, but I finally tried one and got a shot of Jupiter's moons.

Right? Those cheap adapters can actually work if you get the phone lined up just right. A bit of tape helps hold it steady.

My buddy Dave in Arizona got one of those adapters last month. He spent like an hour getting his phone lined up, totally proving @carr.elliot's point, and finally snapped a blurry but real picture of Saturn. He was so pumped.

My neighbor bought a five dollar bracket to mount his phone on a microscope. It looked like junk plastic, but he got clear video of paramecium swimming around. There's a whole category of cheap accessories that bridge two pieces of tech you already own. They feel flimsy and you expect them to fail, but sometimes they just work well enough to open a new door.
