Night sky photo critique changed my whole editing process

A guy in the comments on my last Milky Way shot said my blacks were crushed and I lost all the subtle dust lanes. I had been sliding the contrast up to 80 every time because I thought it made stars pop more. So I went back through maybe 40 old raw files and re-edited them using a much lighter touch with the curves tool. Now I keep the histogram more centered and let the camera's natural dynamic range do the work instead of forcing it. Has anyone else had a single comment completely rewire how they process their astro photos?

Went back through all of mine twice because I kept noticing blown out highlights in the city glow.

Did you go back and re-edit them all again after a few days with fresh eyes?
