Overheard a guy at the observatory say the Moon is fake

Some dude in line for the telescope insisted NASA built the Moon as a hoax in 1969 and pointed at a photo of craters as proof. I just nodded and asked him why they'd bother making it look so boring up close.

2701 people in my apartment building alone act like Google is a myth and their own gut feelings are hard facts. Seems like every week I run into someone who thinks the Earth is flat or birds are government drones just because they saw a grainy video. These conspiracy guys always latch onto something like the Moon looking "boring" and treat it as proof of a cover up instead of just how space works. It's weird how comfortable people get with rejecting basic science when it makes them feel like they know a secret.

2701 people in one building? That's wild, I can barely stand my three neighbors with their theories let alone that many. @reese_nelson must have some patience if they're dealing with that kind of crowd every day. The part about the guy pointing at a photo of craters as "proof" is what gets me - like, how does that even make sense? Craters are literally what you'd expect on a real Moon, not something you'd fake if you were trying to hide something.
