Stacked 80 frames of Saturn, got a wobbly mess instead of rings
I spent a clear night in Tuscon using my 8 inch Dob and a cheap planetary camera, then ran 80 frames through stacking software. The image came out blurry and the rings looked like they were vibrating, not crisp like the tutorials show. Turns out my focus was fine but the scope had not cooled down enough, I started taking video only 20 minutes after setting up. I waited another hour and tried again with 120 frames, and the difference was night and day. Has anyone else had this cooling time issue, or do you just accept the first hour of soft images?
