Stacking 40 iPhone shots of the moon beat my DSLR single exposure
Last month in my backyard in Boise I tried two ways to shoot the full moon: one 300mm DSLR shot at 1/250, and 40 handheld iPhone frames stacked in free software. The stacked phone image showed way more crater detail and less noise, probably because averaging killed the grain and the phone's tiny sensor actually handled the bright disc better. Has anyone else gotten better lunar results from a cheap phone stack than a real camera, or am I just bad at nailing focus?
