That guy on the astro forum told me to stop fighting my mount's drift
Went back and forth for months trying to get pinpoint stars with my little Star Adventurer. Tried balancing better, shorter subs, even a new ball head. Nothing worked. Then some random user named 'NebulaNate' commented on my blurry Orion shot and said my polar alignment was good enough, the issue was I was pushing 90 second exposures on a lightweight tripod in a breeze. Told me to cap it at 45 seconds and stack more frames instead. Took his advice last Tuesday night and got the clearest Andromeda I've ever pulled out of my backyard in Portland. He was right on the money. Still bugs me how much time I wasted though. Anyone else ever get stubborn about a bad habit a random internet stranger fixed for you?

90 seconds on a toy tripod is doable with good technique.

90 seconds on a toy tripod is doable" - sure, but is one photo really worth all that frustration?
