That retired engineer at the Star Party proved me wrong about stacking exposures

He told me 50 frames of the Andromeda Galaxy would beat my usual 20, so I gave it a try last month and the difference in detail was honestly shocking, has anyone else had a similar experience with more frames actually making a photo look better?

That part about "eating my words" is exactly how I felt after trying 60 frames of M31 instead of my usual 20. The background noise just disappeared and the spiral arms popped like nothing I'd seen before. Did you stack all 100 or did you toss any bad subs after you saw the results?

That line about "the difference in detail was honestly shocking" hit me hard. I used to think more frames just meant more noise reduction, but after trying 100 on the Orion Nebula I had to eat my words.
