Traded my old DSLR for a star tracker mount last month
I had to pick between a newer camera body or a star tracker for my astrophotography setup, and I went with the tracker since light pollution is my bigger issue here in Phoenix. Has anyone else chosen a mount over upgrading their camera and regretted it?

Bad call. Better glass beats a mount every time.

5 star party gave me the same advice two years ago. I saved up for a nice APO refractor instead of a tracking mount. Know what I got? Great images of nothing because everything was blurry past 15 seconds. I live in a bortle 6 zone so light pollution is bad enough already. Adding in star trails made the whole setup useless unless I only shot the moon. Learned the hard way that gear synergy matters more than just having one expensive piece. Mount lets you actually use that good glass for more than a few seconds.

Better glass beats a mount every time" - kinda true but not always lol. I live in a city too and honestly the tracker helped me get cleaner shots way more than a lens upgrade would have. If you're fighting light pollution, the mount was probably the smarter pick for now.
