Found out my neighborhood has a secret private garden open to residents only

I've lived in my place near Grant Park for about 2 years now. Last week I was browsing the Nextdoor app and saw someone mention something called the "Cabbagetown Community Garden" that's apparently been around since the 80s. Turns out it's tucked behind some houses and I never noticed it. I walked over there Saturday morning and there's like 40 plots with veggies and flowers and a bunch of fruit trees. Nobody told me about this when I moved in. The best part is you can just walk in any time and grab some herbs or tomatoes if they're ripe. Has anyone else found something like this hidden in their Atlanta neighborhood that you stumbled onto way later than you should have?

Wait until you find out there's probably a neighbor who's been tending that garden for 20 years and knows exactly when to plant everything, but only tells people who ask. A lot of these hidden spots rely on word of mouth to keep them from getting overrun or vandalized. You basically stumbled into a secret society for people who like fresh herbs and quiet dirt time.

Man that's awesome, I found a similar hidden garden in my neighborhood last year and now I grab fresh basil there all the time.

Three years in my neighborhood before I found out about a little plot of land near the railroad tracks with some benches and a koi pond. It's nice but honestly it's just a slightly nicer version of the park down the street, not exactly a secret society. People get real dramatic about "hidden gems" when really it's just a patch of dirt with some herbs.
